Starting up and playing/transmitting two media files
This example requires the following:
- A PC with a sound card and speakers
- An installed copy of Windows 98 and a basic understanding
of how to use it
- An installed KARD transmitter card
- An installed copy of KARD Interface v0.50
- An installed copy of WebJockey 1.x
- At least 2 MP3/WAV files in the WebJockey folder.
Steps:
- Make sure the computer's power cords are plugged in.
- For this example, the computer must be powered down (shut
off).
- Turn the computer on, using the power button on the main
case and display.
- The power light on the main case and display should be
lit.
- After a few seconds, you should see something on the
display's screen.
- If everything is OK, the Windows 98 splash screen (with
clouds and logo) should appear.
- After this disappears, you should see the mouse cursor.
- Wait while it appears as an hourglass until it turns into
a simple arrow.
- When first starting up the computer, you will have to
setup the transmit frequency etc.
- On the Windows desktop, double-click the 'KARD Interface'
icon.
- This will run the transmitter program which will look
similiar to Image 1.

- Select the frequency you want to transmit on.
- You can use the up/down arrows beside the frequency
readout in the window, or enter the frequency directly
using the 'direct set' button.
- To hear your transmission, make sure the 'transmit' check
box is checked and that the 'mute' checkbox is not
checked.
- You'll most likely want to transmit in stereo, so make
sure the 'stereo' checkbox is checked.
- To help keep the volume level adjusted well, make sure
the 'ALC' option is selected.
- On the windows desktop, double-click the WebJockey icon.
- This will run WebJockey, which is a media
scheduler/player program.
- Once it is loaded, it will be in stop mode and should
look similiar to Image 2.

- Along the bottom of the WebJockey window, there should be
a row of buttons.
- Located in the bottom right corner, click the insert
button.
- In the 'Add Event' window that should have just popped
up, make sure that 'Multimedia playback' is selected and
click 'OK'.
- Select 'Multimedia audio file' and click the '...' button
beside the edit box which is just below the 'Multimedia
audio file' text.
- Select the file you want to play and click 'Open' (You
may have to browse the computer's folders using this
window if you don't see any media files intially).
- Once back in the 'Event Details' window, click 'OK'.
- The file should now be entered into the playback list
which is just above the bottom row of buttons (You won't
see the filename in the list).
- Repeat step 21 to 26 to add another file to the list,
then goto step 28.
- Click 'Go' located in the bottom left corner of the
WebJockey window.
- If everything is OK, the file should be playing and you
should be able to hear it on a radio.
