Starting up and playing/transmitting two media files

This example requires the following:

Steps:

  1. Make sure the computer's power cords are plugged in.
  2. For this example, the computer must be powered down (shut off).
  3. Turn the computer on, using the power button on the main case and display.
  4. The power light on the main case and display should be lit.
  5. After a few seconds, you should see something on the display's screen.
  6. If everything is OK, the Windows 98 splash screen (with clouds and logo) should appear.
  7. After this disappears, you should see the mouse cursor.
  8. Wait while it appears as an hourglass until it turns into a simple arrow.
  9. When first starting up the computer, you will have to setup the transmit frequency etc.
  10. On the Windows desktop, double-click the 'KARD Interface' icon.

  12. Select the frequency you want to transmit on.
  13. You can use the up/down arrows beside the frequency readout in the window, or enter the frequency directly using the 'direct set' button.
  14. To hear your transmission, make sure the 'transmit' check box is checked and that the 'mute' checkbox is not checked.
  15. You'll most likely want to transmit in stereo, so make sure the 'stereo' checkbox is checked.
  16. To help keep the volume level adjusted well, make sure the 'ALC' option is selected.
  17. On the windows desktop, double-click the WebJockey icon.
  18. This will run WebJockey, which is a media scheduler/player program.
  19. Once it is loaded, it will be in stop mode and should look similiar to Image 2.

  20. Along the bottom of the WebJockey window, there should be a row of buttons.
  21. Located in the bottom right corner, click the insert button.
  22. In the 'Add Event' window that should have just popped up, make sure that 'Multimedia playback' is selected and click 'OK'.
  23. Select 'Multimedia audio file' and click the '...' button beside the edit box which is just below the 'Multimedia audio file' text.
  24. Select the file you want to play and click 'Open' (You may have to browse the computer's folders using this window if you don't see any media files intially).
  25. Once back in the 'Event Details' window, click 'OK'.
  26. The file should now be entered into the playback list which is just above the bottom row of buttons (You won't see the filename in the list).
  27. Repeat step 21 to 26 to add another file to the list, then goto step 28.
  28. Click 'Go' located in the bottom left corner of the WebJockey window.
  29. If everything is OK, the file should be playing and you should be able to hear it on a radio.
